Konyaaltı, Antalya: Beach, Marina and What to See
Konyaaltı is Antalya's beach district west of Kaleiçi, with a long shoreline, Konyaaltı Beach Park and Setur Antalya Marina.
On this page
Konyaaltı is Antalya's beach district, and it needs about half a day rather than a full sightseeing day. Plan it as an outdoors add-on to a Kaleiçi-based trip. This guide covers how the seafront is arranged, where the beach park and marina sit along it, and how much time to give it alongside the old town.
What Konyaaltı is and where it sits in Antalya
Konyaaltı is the coastal district on Antalya's western side, with sandy stretches, rocky outcrops and a mountain backdrop behind the water. The city's historic core, Kaleiçi, lies east of it, so the two work as a pair: old-town lanes and harbour in the morning, open shoreline later.
The seafront is organised around two anchor points, Konyaaltı Beach Park and Setur Antalya Marina. Get these straight before you set out: the beach and its park form the main open stretch for swimming and walking, while the marina is a separate waterfront stop along the same coast. Between them, the seafront is the sort of place you walk rather than tick off.
Konyaaltı lies on the Turkish Mediterranean coast around Antalya, and the beach district is the city's seaward edge rather than an out-of-town resort strip. That makes it practical as a morning or afternoon between other Antalya stops, and it means the beach crowds include residents as well as visitors.

The beach: sandy stretch, rocky outcrops and mountain backdrop
The shoreline at Konyaaltı mixes sand with pebbles and rock, and the water is clear blue against the mountains behind. Come expecting a Mediterranean city beach rather than a resort beach: the setting is open and scenic, but the surface underfoot is uneven in places, so footwear you can walk on stone in helps.
The beach runs along the coast below the district, and the shoreline is long enough that you should decide in advance how much of it you want to cover. Keep the return leg in mind before you commit to a direction.
Mornings are the better half of the day here in high summer, when the sun on open shingle gets fierce by afternoon. Bring water, shade and a hat rather than relying on what the beach frontage sells, and spend the middle of the day back in the old town instead.

Getting there and the walk from Kaleiçi
Konyaaltı sits along the coast west of central Antalya, so the practical approach is by public transport or taxi rather than driving and parking at the front. Antalya's bus and tram routes plus taxis serve the beach from the centre, and timetables change with the season, so it is worth saying where you are starting from and asking your hotel which line or cab gets you there on the day.
Akdeniz Bulvarı is the boulevard to know, the spine along which the beach district is laid out, and several hotels on it are listed with Konyaaltı addresses. If you are staying centrally, get to the coast and walk down to the water, then use the same boulevard to orient yourself on the way back.
Walking from Kaleiçi means a long stretch on city streets rather than the short stroll the map suggests. Most visitors will get more out of the day by taking transport one way and walking the seafront itself.
Konyaaltı Beach Park and the seafront promenade
Konyaaltı Beach Park is the green edge to the sand, a place to sit, walk and let children run before or after the water. Treat it as the natural starting point for a seafront walk: it puts you on the frontage with the beach on one side and the city behind.
The promenade along the shore is the practical route between the park and the marina, and it is where most of the day's walking happens. It suits a slow hour with stops rather than a route march, so build in time to sit looking at the mountains.
If you want a second green stop in central Antalya, Karaalioğlu Park sits on the old-town side of the city with clifftop sea views and pairs well with a Kaleiçi morning. Save it for the return leg rather than trying to fit both parks into one afternoon.
Setur Antalya Marina and the waterfront
Setur Antalya Marina is the other fixed point on the Konyaaltı waterfront, a place to stroll and watch the boats rather than a swimming stop. It gives the western end of the seafront walk a destination, which is useful when you want a clear turn-around point.
Boats and coastal views are the draw here rather than a checklist of sights, so plan the marina as a pause on the walk and not a separate excursion. Combine it with the beach park in a single line along the shore and the district starts to make sense as one continuous outing.
How long Konyaaltı needs, and fitting it around Kaleiçi and Hadrian's Gate
Give Konyaaltı half a day: enough for the journey out, a walk between the beach park and the marina, and time on the water or in the shallows. A full day here only pays off if you intend to swim and linger; otherwise the old town deserves the larger share of your time.
The natural pairing is a morning in Kaleiçi ending at Hadrian's Gate, then transport to the coast for the afternoon. Hadrian's Gate is the old town's most recognisable monument and the obvious place to break between the two halves of the day.
If you want the waterfalls as well, Düden Waterfall is a separate Antalya stop with its own travel time, so put it on another half-day rather than squeezing it in after the beach. Kurşunlu Waterfall Nature Park is a further option for a greener outing away from the coast.
Practical points: heat, crowds and what to bring
Konyaaltı is a working city beach, so the busiest times are summer weekends and late afternoons when residents arrive after work. Go early for space on the shingle and calmer water, and accept that July and August heat limits how long you will want to stay out.
Shade is limited on the open stretch, so bring your own cover, plenty of water and shoes that cope with pebbles and hot stone. Public transport makes a car unnecessary, and travelling light is the whole advantage of a beach district inside the city.
Nearby: Kemer, the Suluada boat trip and old-town tours
Kemer lies further along the same coast and works as a separate base or day out rather than an extension of a Konyaaltı afternoon. Boat trips in the Antalya and Kemer area include a Suluada excursion with lunch, which is a full-day commitment and best booked for a day you are not also sightseeing.
Organised Antalya old-town tours combine the historic quarter with the cable car, the waterfalls and a boat trip, and they cover ground that is awkward to link on public transport. Compare what each tour includes against the transport-and-walk plan before you book, because the two approaches give very different days.
Beach afternoon or old-town morning?
Choose Konyaaltı for the half-day when you want sea, mountains and an easy walk, and keep Kaleiçi for the half-day when you want lanes, harbour and monuments. Travel between them by public transport, anchor the coast walk on Konyaaltı Beach Park and Setur Antalya Marina, and go early in summer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Antalya, and where does Konyaaltı fit?
Antalya is on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, and Konyaaltı is its western beach district. It sits on the coast west of the historic Kaleiçi quarter, with the beach, Konyaaltı Beach Park and Setur Antalya Marina arranged along one seafront.
How long should you give Konyaaltı?
Half a day is enough for the journey out, a walk between Konyaaltı Beach Park and Setur Antalya Marina, and time on the water or in the shallows. A full day only pays off if you intend to swim and linger, in which case the old town can wait for another half-day.
Do you need a car to visit Konyaaltı from central Antalya?
No. Konyaaltı is on Antalya's coast, so public transport or a taxi is the practical link from the centre and old town. Check current bus, tram and taxi options before you travel.
